The Nashville Public Library Foundation is creating a new position - New Media Coordinator- to assist in the efforts to raise awareness of the Nashville Public Library Foundation and the Foundation's extensive support of programs and offerings of the Nashville Public Library. The ideal candidate will be a good writer, self-motivated, creative and outgoing. The candidate must also possess a broad knowledge of both traditional and social media applications. S/he must be familiar with all of the offerings of the Nashville's Public Library system and must show a capability to reach Nashvillians through the Internet no matter if they are Internet novices - only occasionally reading e-mail and visiting Web sites, Internet gurus -shopping, blogging, interacting and tweeting throughout the day.
At the same time, despite the IT responsibilities, this is not a desk job. The ideal candidate will be able to develop innovative ways to interact with Nashvillians in the virtual community and face to face at library branches and other locations around the city.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develop and implement online communications strategy for NPLF, including website updates, social media messaging, and email marketing
- Updating the existing foundation Web site on a regular basis
- Writing and distributing the biweekly e-newsletter
- Coordinating all social media outreach through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc
- Develop and implement new methods to engage Nashvillians through social media, raising the awareness of and interest in the Foundation and the library system
- Organizing promotional events for all libraries (giveaways, online to offline connections)
- Coordinating with library marketing/PR staff to promote NPL events and programming
- Coordinating media buys and messaging to promote NPLF and the library
- Keeping abreast of current trends by monitoring all appropriate blogs and Twitter feeds -both local and national - that share the interests of the NPLF
- Publicizing affinity programs, such as Amazon associates
- Seeking additional opportunities for outreach on the Internet to expand the NPLF platform
- Experimenting with new social media outlets/communities
- Participating in existing niche communities (in Nashville and among readers)
- Preparing a bimonthly report for Foundation review of social media activity
