About John McPhee
John McPhee is often considered the greatest living non-fiction writer and a legend in literary journalism. His narrative approach to a multitude of common and uncommon topics has earned him a Pulitzer Prize and legions of fans who accompany him on his carefully constructed literary journeys.

About the Nashville Public Library's Literary Award
Each year the award brings an outstanding individual to Nashville to honor his or her achievements, to benefit the library and to promote books, literacy and reading. Presented at the annual Gala, previous recipients are:

Proceeds from the Gala fund the multiple endeavors of the Nashville Public Library Foundation, including the preschool literacy program Bringing Books to Life, after-school youth programs, and Concerts in the Courtyard.
